How to find an IP address

The majority of IP networks are configured to allocate IP addresses to connected devices automatically. There are a variety of ways for discovering a device’s IP address, and the method differs depending on the platform:

On a Windows PC or laptop:
Method 1: Open Windows File Explorer, and click on the "Network" category in the sidebar on the left. Find the relevant device via its serial number in the list of devices, and then right-click on its icon and select "Properties". The IP address will be listed in the displayed web page. Method 2: Use third-party IP scanning software (such as Wireshark) to scan the devices on your IP network. The IP address of all devices will be listed in the scan results.

On a network router connected to the same IP network:
Access the router’s web interface page via a web browser (the router's IP address is typically 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1). It is also usually printed on the Router’s product label. Navigate to the "Device List", "Connected Devices", or "DHCP Clients" section. The connected IP devices and their IP addresses will be listed.

On an chartplotter:
The IP address for connected devices is usually displayed on a Diagnostics page. Refer to the display’s Operation Instructions document for instructions on how to access the Diagnostics page.
