Best practice: use of latched and unlatched switches
The choice of a latched or unlatched (momentary)
switch to control a particular system or piece of equipment may have
a direct impact on user safety.
Always consider the nature of the equipment under control when deciding which type of switch to use:
A latched switch may be appropriate when a continuously closed (or open) switch-state is unlikely to impact user or vessel safety.
Note Remember that a physically latched switch cannot be overridden by other switches within the digital switching system.Use an unlatched (momentary) switch for moving equipment that may present an entrapment hazard.
